It was in 1999 when Marco Zardi, who had already gained first-class international experience in the field of intellectual property, had the intuition to establish an IP Firm in Canton of Ticino, providing an alternative for local inventors, who were used to consulting IP Firms in Central Switzerland or abroad. A shortcoming, indeed, considering that Switzerland was in first place for the number of patent applications filed in relation to the number of inhabitants and, in absolute numbers, among the top in Europe.
First clients arrived quickly, finding exemplary competence, tireless commitment and unique understanding of the goals to be pursued. These are the distinguishing traits that have characterized the firm from the very beginning.
This intuition was followed by courageous and strongly desired choices, such as teaming up with top professionals with various specializations, to establish at Zardi a real benchmark in Ticino for any Intellectual Property matter.
Over the years, the profession has undergone radical changes. Zardi was a forerunner, implementing the most innovative procedures of cooperation with the Swiss, European and International Patent Offices, building a finely selected and extensive network of corresponding IP attorneys around the world, establishing lasting relationships also with foreign companies, particularly on the Asian continent, and preparing for new challenges for its customers.
Between 2010 and 2020, all Patent Attorneys at Zardi had already qualified as European Patent Litigators at the Unified Patent Court, which came into force in June 2023 and this change is also closely affecting companies in the area.
In the field of technology, our Computer Science and Engineering experts are working in synergy to safeguard, in the widest range of business realities, the integration processes of Artificial Intelligence that will be potentially at the root of competitive advantages in the coming years.
Zardi is a member of leading international associations, such as AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), and Marco Zardi is president of AIPPI Swiss group.
Looking back, this past quarter of a century seems to have flown by, thanks to the passion that has always accompanied us.
And, actually, it is a pleasant awareness.
